It has been a beautiful week here is Herriman.
Miracles are happening every where. The weather has been a wonderful
temperature of 55 degrees. Yes, it is January. The Stake Split has
finally happened, and it makes life so much easier. I am really sad
because we have been working hard with so many families and individuals and
they have made so much progress. So I'm really sad, but I know that the
Elders will take good care of them.
Another miracle that
happened is that we reached the standards of excellence! Yes it finally
happened. I remember a letter that my brother Micah wrote me while he
was on his mission. He told me that if we really wanted something we
needed to fast and or pray and study and ponder and pray some more and
then we needed to go out and work. Well that is what we did. We prayed a
lot this week and we studied and prayed some more about who we could
see. After we prayed we acted on the promptings we received. And we
picked up four new investigators this week. (Thats a big deal). I
know that when we trust in the Lord and we use our faith He blesses us.
So yesterday, church was done by 12 because we had stake conference, and
one of our investigators who was on date didn't come to church so she
fell off date. We were like okay, now what, should we give up or
keep going. We said a prayer and kept going. So we went to a family who
said that we could come back and we picked them up as new investigators
and then after dinner we said a prayer because we still needed somebody
to be on date. We got the impression that we should go to a home. We
went to this home and everyone in the house was baptized except the one
brother. So we asked if we could talk to him and he is very strong
Christian, but we talked to him and he agreed to read the Book of Mormon
and I asked him to be baptized if he knew if was true. He said yes! It
was a miracle. I know that the Lord wants us to succeed! He really does,
so if we put our trust in Him and do our part He Will provide a way!
As
for stake conference we had an awesome conference! Elder Hamula of the
seventy came. He told us that the days of being a cultural member are
over and we need to stand on our own two feet and not live on borrowed
light. We need to gain our own testimonies brothers and sisters! When
those times come when our testimony is tried and tested we will be able
to stand because we did the work to gain our testimonies. It's not a one
time deal, we need to always build our testimonies.
I love you all so very very much and I can't wait to see you!
Love, Sister Swain
P.S. Miracles happen, we just need to look for them.
