So this week went by so fast! Lots of
ups and downs, a lot of wind. It was so windy that we had to drop off
our bikes at someones house and walk because it was too hard to ride our
bikes in the wind. We also had miracles, we taught a lot more lessons
this week and because we know the area better we can contact a lot more
referrals and people are receptive, the hard part is just setting up a
time. Everyone is so busy. So we are working around there schedules. A
miracle this week is that we had a hard time getting into this one
Polynesian families house and there less active. But we met there son
outside and we showed up just in time for dinner. And we didn't have a
dinner appt. that night. And the best way to get into a Polynesian house
is if there is food. So we got in and we were able to share a message
and have a prayer so that was great!
Since
coming into this area I have really needed to strengthen my faith. And I
love being with a new missionary because it has reminded me how to rely
on the spirit for everything! I need to have faith that we'll find
people to teach and that I'll know what to train her for the day. I need
to have faith that the spirit will help me get up the huge hill or that
we'll know what to say in lessons. But like Lehi and his family with
the Liahona. The Lord shows us the way when we are doing our part.
Alma describes this faith to his son Helaman. Alma ch. 37:
40 And it did work for them according to their faith in
God; therefore, if they had faith to believe that God could cause that
those spindles should point the way they should go, behold, it was done;
therefore they had this miracle, and also many other miracles wrought
by the power of God, day by day.
41 Nevertheless, because those miracles were worked by small means it did show unto them marvelous works. They were slothful,
and forgot to exercise their faith and diligence and then those
marvelous works ceased, and they did not progress in their journey;...
44 For
behold, it is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will
point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our
fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a
straight course to the promised land.
45 And
now I say, is there not a type in this thing? For just as surely as
this director did bring our fathers, by following its course, to the
promised land, shall the words of Christ, if we follow their course,
carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise.
Sometimes
we don't know what our faith will do or when those miracles will come,
but they will come. We just need to follow the words of Christ. And our
faith will carry us "into a far better land of promise."
I love you all!
